Traditional Thai Therapy
Wat Phra Chetuphon, or "Wat Po", is well known as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, as well as being Thailand's first open University.
It became the center of Thai Arts and Knowledge where the wisdom of Thai Traditional Medicine and Massage were gathered from the ancestors and is still passed on today, e.g. instruction of herbal drug recipes, diagnosis and treatment for general ailments, baby illnesses and healing methods, massage inscriptions and drawings etc.
Being the base of Thai Medicine, Wat Po Thai Traditional Medical and Massage School was opend in 1955 inside Wat Po. It is the first Thai Medical School under the approval Thai Ministry of Education.
Thai Massage is suitable for almost everyone as the pressure and stretching movements are always matched to the receiver's needs and physical abilities. (Contraindication)
It is particularly beneficial for those who are feeling a little stiff and don't get much exercise. Yoga students will find that it complements and deepens their yoga practice and helps them to further increase their flexibility.
This form of bodywork is performed on a comfortable floor mattress and the client wears comfortable clothes that allow for movement. No oils are used in the Traditional Thai Massage
